What happens if I change my mobile number? If you wish to continue to receive blinxbook invites you must change your mobile phone number in the Profile section of the app. This will transfer your account to your new mobile phone number. You can also change your profile name at any time.

blinx4myclub and blinx4school are our enterprise versions of the software suite and work slightly differently. They are designed for organisations to share information and are essentially web-based (although accessible via an app). As it is envisaged that there will be a need for students to access blinx4school say from the ICT suite the content has to be accessible from there and so is stored on secure cloud servers.

For blinx4home, no – there is no lasting digital footprint. blinx4 believes in supporting groups of friends and families with technology and wants to alleviate any fears the concerned may have over lasting digital footprints of personal content. The blinx4home app acts like a post box (mail box). We store the blinx on our secure servers for a maximum of two weeks (or until all of the in-crowd has downloaded a blinx – which ever is sooner). Any blinx and associated information is then deleted from our servers – forever! The information is stored on your phone (and the phones of your in-crowds) for as long as you want.

You always have the option of using the “re-publish” function to send your blinx again if anyone in your in-crowd misses out the first time around..

For further information on how box&rox stores your personal information please refer to our privacy policy.

All data passing between your phone, tablet, laptop and/or desktop and our third party secure servers (located in the UK) are protected by the SSL.  Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. Using blinx4 apps

You must download the relevant app and sign-up and create an account.

For blinx4myclub hero or blinx4school hero your blinx partner will set up and invite/assign you to your first blinxbooks. Sit back and wait!!

As a blinx4home hero, next up you need to set up blinxbooks with associated in-crowds. blinxbooks are a way of keeping some order to the proliferation of photos on your phone and sharing with your close friends and family. Popular ideas for blinxbooks are ones dedicated to each child (“Katie Cartwheel”, “Lucy Lettuce”, “Suzanne Slug”) and for the family, or special events favourite cakes/meals, play dates, or even one for the ever increasing artwork collection….

For a quick intro have a look at the helpful video clips section of this website.

blinx4myclub and blinx4school are cloud based applications and so there is no need for you to back up your content – we do that for you :).

The blinx4home app is backed-up when you back up your phone in the usual way. You can also save images to your camera roll (manually blinx by blinx or go to settings to opt to save automatically as they are created/received ). These saved images will be stored along with all your other photos when uploaded to another device.

The content for blinx4school and blinx4myclub is cloud based – so we back-uo your content for you.

For blinx4home we are working on a server solution in an upcoming release where users will be able to securely store and back-up their blinx including the vemo online. Watch this space!

Yes – you can print individual blinx from your phone or other device in the normal way.

We are looking to offer a printing service where you would be able to print your most favourite blinx on to calendars, mugs and also high quality framed prints for example. If you would be interested in this – please do get in contact to let us know what you think about what we are thinking… Or indeed if you have something else you would like to suggest 🙂

blinx4myclubandblinx4school , as they are the enterprise versions, have additionally been designed to be web-based and can be accessed via your browser.

blinx4home is an app design specifically for smart phones so you will need a mobile phone (cell phone) and an active mobile number for set up.

For Apple phones you need an iPhone 5 (or later) running iOS version 10 or later.

For Android users for best results you need to be at least running Ver 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later. blinx4 supports all major brand android phones. If blinx4 is not supported on your particular Android phone you will be unable to download the app from the Play Store.

blinx4 apps are not designed for  Microsoft phones.

All of the blinx4 apps will also run on appropriate tablets.

I’m still scratching my head about some things…

It always seems to feel good to have a clear-out every now and then. You can manage the blinx and blinxbooks easily within the app.

  1. You can delete a blinx before you publish it using the trash button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. You can delete a blinx from your phone, one you have created or received, using the trash button when viewing a specific blinx from the gallery.
  3. You can delete a blinxbook at anytime using the “my blinxbooks” menu option
  4. You can deactivate your  account by taping on the “Deactivate account” option in the “Settings” screen in the blinx app.
  5. You can delete the app from you phone at anytime using the phone’s deletion process

For blinx4home – we only store your blinx on our server for 2 weeks or until all your in-crowd have downloaded which ever happens sooner. Please note : deleting a blinx or blinxbook from your phone does NOT delete it from your in-crowd‘s phone.

Yes you can!

There are a number of reasons you may wish to republish a blinx.

a) As blinx4home acts as a “mailing service”, we only store blinx for 2 weeks – so if you add someone to an existing blinxbook they will only have access to recent blinx. You may wish to republish a selection (or all) of blinx that you would like to newcomer to see.

b) You may wish to edit the caption from and older blinx and republish.

c) A member of your in-crowd or community may have lost connection whilst downloading a specific blinx – you can start the download again if necessary by republishing that specific blinx.

d) A member of your in-crowd or community might have deleted a specific blinx (by accident or deliberately) and may want to restore this blinx back to their phone.

In order to republish any blinx you should go to that specific blinx in the specific blinxbook.

From the pop up menu in the bottom right hand corner select the “paper airplane” icon and this will republish this blinx (after a confirmation prompt).

This will republish this specific blinx to everyone in the in-crowd (or community depending on which blinx4 app you are using).

Once you accept an invitation to join a new blinxbook, an animation will start,  the outline of the “new” blinxbook icon will start to flash to indicate that the download to your device is underway.

If for any reason your connection is not good enough during this process the download will fail. You will know this has happened as the animation will continue and blinxbook that you have been invited to will not appear. In normal operation with a good connection the blinxbook you are joining should appear on the home screen of the app  in a matter of seconds.

If this failure does occur you should follow these simple steps:

  1. Open and close the app to reset the app and the download
  2. Ask the blinxbook owner to invite you again. They can do this by removing you from the in-crowd and then adding you back in. This will resend the invite.
  3. Once this is completed you will receive the invite again – please make sure you have a good connection before accepting the invite.
  4. The blinxbook will then download successfully to you phone.

During the registration process for any of our apps you would have been asked if you want to let blinx4 alert you if you are in receipt of new content – in other words allowing “push notifications”. If you agreed to this you will receive banner and balloon alerts when you are sent new content.

If you said no to this and/or you want to change this set up you can modify this through the phone settings (outside of the blinx4 app). All you need to do is go to the “Settings” part of your phone, then tap on the relevant blinx4 app then select “Notifications”. From this screen you can tailor how the phone will alert you to new content.

Please remember this settings screen adjusts whether and how the phone alerts you to new content. You will still receive new content regardless of these settings – you just will not know about this until you enter the blinx4 app if you turn off these notifications.

blinx are saved automatically in all blinx4 apps.

You can save individual images to your camera roll/gallery on your phone via the blinxbook gallery.

You can also configure any blinx4 app to automatically save all images to your your camera roll/gallery on your phone by enabling the “Saving photos” slider in Settings.

Android users please note that when images are saved to the phone they will be saved directly to the memory card (SD card). If no SD card is present, images will not be saved to the phone (only in the app). When your Android is connected to a computer, the computer will have “control” over the memory card so for this period blinx4 is unable to save to the SD card.

If the location of where you created your blinx is not automatically being captured and displayed on the back of your blinx there could be a number of things in play:

(a) Please check in the app Settings from the drop down menu that you have checked the “Where was I” slider

(b) This location data relies on a good connection and may take a second or two to update if the connection is weak. One suggestion is to delay 3 seconds between capturing and publishing your blinx.

If the problem with the connection persists you can always add your location to the caption.

SPECIFIC QUESTIONS FOR BLINX4HOME

Your blinx4home account is linked to your phone number. If you change your phone number you will need to edit your phone number in the profile part of the app to reflect your change in number.

You will be sent a a code via SMS on the new number to verify the account. You are only able to change your number one time in every 24hrs.

Please remember to let your in-crowd know about your change in number so they can still share with you!

PLEASE NOTE:

It is IMPORTANT to understand if you give up you phone number it might be recycled by your phone company and in time assigned to another customer. To protect your blinx4home account, before you give up your number, you must first do one of two things:

(a) If you wish to continue to use blinx4home – please enter your new number in the profile section of the blinx4home app.

(b) If you no longer wish to use blinx4home – please deactivate your account.

For you to successfully register and then send and receive blinx you need to enter your phone number in the correct format.

blinx4home uses the ITU-T recommended E.164 International Phone Number Format. Examples of this format are shown here:

blinx user is in country code  local number phone number format
China 86 (10) 6945xx64 86106945xx64
France 33 06 87 71 xx 45 3368771xx45
Nigeria 234 08031xx45 2348031xx45
United Kingdom 44 07700 95x x21 44770095xx21
United States 1 (954) 555-xx34 1954555xx34

Once you register with blinx4home we ask for your mobile phone number so you will be able to connect with your in-crowds.

To ensure the number is your number and that you have entered it correctly we send you an SMS (text message) during registration with a verification code.

There are a number of reasons why you might not receive this SMS and get held up on the “enter verification code” screen:

  1. You have entered your number incorrectly – please press the back button and re-enter your number correctly.
  2. You do not have a good carrier “signal”  on your phone. Please press the back button and try again when you have a good signal.
  3. If neither points (1) & (2) have  happened it might be the rare case that your network provider does not support SMS messages from virtual numbers. blinx4home uses the latest technology to send these SMS verifications and if it is the case that your network provider is not able to send this type of SMS, unfortunately you will not be able to use the app. It is essential for the operation of blinx4home that we can verify your phone number.  We continue to work with providers who work with the networks  in order to offer blinx4home to as many users as possible around the world.

Both you and your in-crowd need a good internet connection to use blinx4home properly. When the phones are connected again to a reliable fast connection your blinx will be sent and received.

If this issue persists please exit the blinx4home app and restart it when you have a robust internet connection.

Yes – you can set a member of your in-crowd up like this. When adding a friend or member of your family to an in-crowd – you will see a “creator” slider next to their name. If you toggle this slider – this individual will not only receive all the blinx you or your child create they will also be able to add in their own blinx to this specific blinxbook. This shared ability to create might be useful with say your child’s grandparents where you can all capture those spontaneous thoughts worth sharing or perhaps when building a blinxbook for your child’s party or even a shared picnic.

It is possible to withdraw this capability from any member of your in-crowd at any time. Visit “My blinxbooks” in the drop down menu and select the blinxbook you wish to change. Press “update in-crowd” and adjust the creator sliders to set up your in-crowd as you wish,  then press the “I’m done” button. It is advisable to completely exit the blinx4home app and re-start it after this operation to ensure all changes ripple through immediately.

The blinx4home app acts like a post box. We store the blinx you create on our secure servers for a maximum of two weeks (or until all of the in-crowd has downloaded a blinx – which ever is sooner). Any blinx and associated information is then deleted from our servers – forever! The information is stored on your phone (and the phones of your in-crowds) for as long as you want.

If you want to modify/add a caption or vemo following that two week period – you can. Please be aware these changes will be made to the blinx on your phone only. If you want these changes also to be sent to your in-crowd please use the republish button and they will be sent the latest copy of that blinx. To republish a blinx, please go the the gallery and display the blinx in question – you will find the republish button (the “paper airplane” icon) in the menu in the bottom right-hand corner.

Any changes made to any blinx before that two week period (or before the all the in-crowd have downloaded) will automatically be passed through to your in-crowd and there is no need to republish. If in doubt – there is no harm in republishing 😀

During the registration process you would have been asked if you want to let blinx4home alert you if you are in receipt of new content – in other words allowing “push notifications”. If you agreed to this you will receive banner and balloon alerts when you are sent new content.

If you said no to this and/or you want to change this set up you can modify this through the phone settings (outside of the blinx4home app). All you need to do is go to the “Settings” part of your phone, then tap on “blinx” then select “Notifications”. From this screen you can tailor how the phone will alert you to new content.

Please remember this settings screen adjusts whether and how the phone alerts you to new content. You will still receive new content regardless of these settings – you just will not know about this until you enter the blinx4home app if you turn off these notifications.

If your friend is already using blinx4home they will automatically be sent an invitation via the blinx4home app to join as a member of your in-crowd for a specific blinxbook.

If your friend is not already using blinx – an SMS text message will be created on your phone which you can choose to send to them (or just ask them to download blinx4home next time you see them). The SMS contains a link to this blinx4home website directing them to download the app. Once they have downloaded and set up the app – they will then receive your invite to join your in-crowd for the particular blinxbook you have created.

  • Once your friend accepts your invite they will show as green in your in-crowd.
  • If they decline your invite they will no longer show up in your in-crowd.
  • You can remove them from your in-crowd at any time via the “My blinxbooks” and “Update in-crowd” menu option.
  • If an invitation is rejected by accident,  you can resend this invitation to your in-crowd at any time via the “My blinxbooks” menu option and “Update in-crowd” then simply tap on “I’m done” or “Finish“. People in your in-crowd who are yet to accept will be sent another invitation.

Yes! blinx4home can handle phone numbers from around the world.

Please note – if you are inviting someone whose phone is registered in a different country please make sure this is reflected in your phone’s contact book for that person. These phone numbers must have the correct country code in the correct format.

If no country code is entered  – blinx4home will assume the phone number is domestic.

It is not necessary to enter the country code for your domestic numbers – blinx4home will automatically handle domestic numbers with (or without) a country code.

Connect with your in-crowd around the world!

Currently the blinx4home apps are designed to run on IOS (apple) and Android phones.

With blinx4home you are able to change your phone and/or phone number and keep the same account as long as you are not switching device type. If you wish to change from IOS to Android (or Android to IOS) this will be treated as a new download, a fresh install and a new account.

If you have an iPhone and stay with iPhone no problem, Apple will have you back where you were before you changed your phone in no time at all. If you use iCloud to back up your phone including your apps, you will be able to restore the blinx app and your content. The blinx4home app and contents are backed-up when you back-up your phone as part of your routine phone data management. When you restore your old phone set-up on your new phone the blinx4home app will be restored with all the blinx and blinxbooks that you had on your original phone.

This will deactivate the account on your original phone as blinx4home can only be active on the same telephone number on one device at the same time.

There are many many Android devices so we advise that if you have an Android phone then please refer to the phone manufacturer’s instructions regarding backing up and restoring data and apps for your specific device

We strongly advise that you set up your phone to back-up regularly and automatically – this will minimise the risk of losing data. We also advise that you check that this back-up process is working effectively and that all your apps/data are indeed in the back-up file. This will put you in a position to restore all your apps and content should you so need to do.

If your phone becomes lost or stolen, we can help with getting up and running again on blinx4home. We advise as a precaution you take advantage of the various bio metric security features and password protection available on most phones to restrict access to your phone if it is lost or stolen.

Be prudent! If your phone becomes lost – lock your SIM card as soon as possible. You need to contact your mobile provider immediately and instruct them to lock your SIM card. Once this is done it will no longer be possible to verify your blinx4home account on your original phone, as this phone will not be able to receive the “verify” SMS message.

The way to deactivate your account on the lost/stolen phone is to activate your account on your new phone. Please activate your account on your new phone as soon as possible. You can do this when you have your new SIM card with the same number on your new phone.

If you have an iPhone and stay with iPhone no problem, Apple will have you back where you were before you lost your phone in no time at all. If you use iCloud to back up your phone including your apps, you will be able to restore the blinx4home app and your content. The blinx4home app and contents are backed-up when you back-up your phone as part of your routine phone data management. When you restore the apps and data from the original phone back-up to your new phone the blinx4home app will be restored along with all the blinx and blinxbooks.

blinx are automatically saved and stored in the blinxbook you create them in. No need to stress about finding time to organise your growing collection of digital photos!

For those very precious blinx – you are able to make them gems with the “gem” button when viewing them in the blinxbook. These are then automatically stored in the gems part of the app making it simple to access those extra special moments easily.

If you change your mind or end up making too many of your blinx gems you can move them back out of gems to their original blinxbooks by using the “ungem” option.
